Richard Stockton is a principal shareholder in the Chicago office of Banner & Witcoff, Ltd, where he handles a variety of counseling, litigation and prosecution matters relating to US utility patents, design patents, trademarks, domain names and copyrights. Internationally, Richard has managed matters in more than 100 foreign jurisdictions, and he has visited more than 70 countries.
Richard received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and a law degree cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at the University of Illinois, Richard was Editor-in-Chief of The University of Illinois Journal of Law, Technology & Policy, and he remains very active with the University as an alumnus.
Richard also was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center from 2004-2011, and currently serves in the same role at Northwestern School of Law. He is a frequent author, panelist and speaker, vice-chairs the Patent Litigation committee for the American Bar Association’s Section of Intellectual Property Law, is the incoming vice-chair of American Intellectual Property Law Association Industrial Design committee, and chairs the Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court Chicago Regional Competition Committee.
